About Us

TEAM HISTORY

Our group of riders started participating in the Breakaway to Key Largo in 2003. Formally known as Team HCA we were comprised primarily of dedicated hospital executives, physicians, nurses, directors and staff personnel. Our team mates were stretched from Kendall to Port St Lucie. In 2006 we rode with the title sponsor, Team Maroone. But In 2007 we emerged as Team STORM RIDERS. A name derived from the original HCA South Florida employees that continue to weather pre and post storm hurricane conditions to fulfill their commitment to the communities they serve.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING?

letter“Just wanted to say thank you Storm Riders. My son Christopher (15) and I rode the 41 (really 46) mile leg of the Homestead Speedway ride. We had a weak start (his breakfast didn`t quite agree with him) but were able to follow thru and finish strong. We attribute this to a group of 5 or 6 Storm Riders that graciously allowed us to join their pack out to the 25 mile rest stop. Being new to the sport with about 3.5 months and approximately 500 miles under our belts, Storm Rider members patience and encouraging word meant a lot.”

“I live in Gainesville and work at HCA NFRMC Hospital. To see this kind of support is so very overwhelming. I was diagnosed with MS in 1988 and have not had as hard a road as many others. I have hit several speed bumps with fund raising for the Walk MS and it is very discouraging. So, to see what you guys have done, is very uplifting and so very awesome. Please tell everyone that this HCA employee is very proud to be one of their coworkers!! Thank you again!!!”

“Thank you so much for everything!!! You are an inspiration!!!! I had such an incredible experience and I will never forget it!!!”

“I just wanted to thank you for an incredible ride on Saturday, but even more for challenging me and helping me to see what I am capable of doing. I am truly enjoying the sport and being a member of Team Storm Riders. If I don`t speak with you before, have a great ride in Boston!”

“I just wanted to thank you for including me on your team Sunday! I could have never finished that race without you and StormRiders! I am very appreciative of everything you and the team did for me without even knowing me. I am extremely excited to do the MS race with you and your team! And then hopefully many races will follow as a StormRider!!”

“I have many great memories from this past weekend, but one thing i wanted to share: this was the third year that i have rode with hca, but it was the first year i really felt like i was part of the team. Everyone was included whether you were on the a, b, or c team. And i thought it was wonderful that everyone waited till the last rider showed up and cheered them in. I guess the third time really is a charm!”
